AQHA and the American Quarter Horse Foundation support members and their American Quarter Horses during difficult times.

Monetary donations for state and/or federally declared national disasters are accepted by the Foundation.

The American Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Foundation are dedicated to supporting AQHA members, especially in times of state and national disasters.

AQHA is automatically extending all AQHA memberships for an additional 90 days for areas affected by the wildfires in California. Members will receive a new renewal notice closer to their adjusted expiration date. Members will also receive a new AQHA membership card in the mail within the next few weeks that will reflect their adjusted expiration.

In addition, AQHA will duplicate certificates that may have been lost or damaged for free. To request a free duplicate, please fill out this form and indicate in the “other” option on the form that your papers were lost or damaged due to the specific natural disaster in your area. Return the completed form to AQHA with photographs of your horse.  

“We know that we cannot fix the damage caused by the fires, but we hope this offer will help in some small way,” said AQHA Executive Vice President Craig Huffhines.

Foundation Disaster Relief Fund
The Foundation has developed a disaster relief fund to help members in times of need.

“We appreciate our members’ desire to help, and understand that they may feel most comfortable helping through the American Quarter Horse Foundation,” said AQHA Chief Foundation Officer Anna Morrison.

Monetary donations for state and/or federally declared national disasters are accepted by the Foundation. Foundation staff will work with agencies and veterinarians in the affected areas to determine needs of the equine community and the non-profit agencies that are providing the most effective relief. If individuals would like their donation to go to a specific organization, they can donate directly to the organization of their choice. 

The objective of the Foundation disaster relief fund is to help organizations involved with equine-related recovery and rebuilding efforts. Priority funding areas include:

  • Temporary shelter/holding facilities

  • Feed

  • Veterinary care

  • Search and rescue

  • Other vital resources to support the safety and well-being of our equine partners

Donations will be accepted up to six months after a specific disaster. If a donation is received after this time period, the donor will be consulted to determine if the Foundation can hold that donation for future relief efforts or issue a refund.
